Blueberry Chocolate Smoothie

Chocolate + fruit = decadence! Cocoa powder gives smoothies a rich, chocolatey flavor. Use either fresh or frozen blueberries; frozen berries are often more affordable than fresh depending on the season. Enjoy this creamy smoothie as a drink or smoothie bowl with toppings such as granola, coconut flakes, cacao nibs, chia seeds and/or hemp seeds. For additional protein, blend protein powder or yogurt into the smoothie.

Serves 2

Blend 1-½ cups blueberries (fresh or frozen), 1 banana (fresh or frozen), 3 Tb cocoa powder, 1-½ cups plain kefir, ¾ tsp vanilla extract and ½ tsp ground cinnamon until creamy. Add ice until the smoothie reaches desired consistency and temperature (optional).
